Situated roughly 40 kms from the continents, Zanzibar Island can boast kilometers of golden beaches. Zanzibar, also the name of the capital, is located on the west cost. It was the ancient trading port of the sultans of Oman in the 19th century. This city is a medina: the only of its kind south of the Equator. Carved doors and balconies decorated the houses which are made of coral stones. Inland, the island is a garden of Eden offering the most exquisite tropical species.

During your stay you can take a tour of the historic sites such as the Arab Fort, the House of Wonders and the Palace Museum - all taking you back in time.  It is a place of winding alleys, bustling bazaars, mosques and grand Arab houses.

The beaches and surrounding Indian Ocean waters of Zanzibar are superb, whether you are the outdoor water sports enthusiast, or someone looking for some relaxing time.

There are many properties on this Island of which you can choose depending on your budget. We recommend that you combine a short stay in stone and a couple of days at the beach. This would allow to fully experience the magical feel of Zanzibar.

Best time: June to mid-March with the hottest month from January.
How to get there: from Dar es salaam, a 1 h 30 hydrofoil crossing or a 20 minutes flight
